Sound & Light Technicians

Job Description

The Sound/Light Technician provides professional sound and light support for the entertainment shows and other activities. He sets up, runs and maintains the sound/light equipment and may run the in-house video system if a video technician’s absence Production - the recording of all sound on set or on location
 

• assess the acoustics of the performance area as directed by the sound supervisor
• select, position, adjust and operate sound equipment, such as booms, fishing rods and microphones, used for amplification and recording
• communicate with production staff and performers to determine the sound requirements
• apply technical knowledge of sound recording equipment to achieve the determined artistic objectives
• record sound onto digital audio tape or hard disk recorders
• monitor audio signals to detect sound-quality deviations or malfunctions
• anticipate and correct any faults
• maintain and repair sound equipment
• comply with all relevant health and safety legislation
   

• Set up and operate media equipment professionally for live events, shows, acoustic performances, etc. • Compare venue lay out plan to the set up needed for projectors, electric cables, microphones, video monitors, and sound boards • Trouble shoot issues on technical aspect to enhance any live experience of audience in coordination with the DJ • Meet with Event Coordinators for discussion on lighting, Audio and visual requirements • Inspect mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations and report to management as needed
 

Mixing front of house systems as well as monitor mixes simultaneously, experience with multiple wireless microphones, some degree of ability at troubleshooting and minor repairs of broken equipment, ability to mix all styles of bands from rock to big band and large vocal ensembles.
